Namaqualand Daisy (Dimorphoteca sinuata)

This is a brightly coloured early season annual, originating from South Africa. Displays of shades of yellows, orange, salmon, white with a brown centre giving a nice contrast to this neat looking daisy like flower.

It has coarse aromatic leaves and grows to a height of 30cm.

 

Common names amongst others are 'African Daisy', 'Cape Marigold', 'Star of the Veldt', and ‘Namaqualand Daisy’

 

Dimorphoteca means that it produces 2 types of seeds, which form in a ball after flowering.

  • Ensure your chosen site is free of weeds. Rake to a fine tilth and sow by hand evenly by sowing half of the seed lengthways and the other half widthways. Rake again lightly and gently firm the soil. Protect from birds if necessary and water when required but be careful not to over water.
